Why does my AI dance video make my face look weird?

Almost always because of the photo. The AI has to guess everything the photo doesn't show, so a small, blurry, cut-off, filtered or crowded photo gives it the most to guess. Use one sharp photo of one person or pet, face clear and facing the camera, whole body if you can. If it still looks wrong, email us and we refund that video.

What happens in the video

How to pick a photo that works, in five steps

  1. Choose a photo where you are alone. One person or one pet, no one else in the frame.
  2. Check the face. It should be sharp, facing the camera, with no sunglasses, mask or hand over it.
  3. Use the whole body if you can. Head to feet inside the frame, close enough that the face is not tiny.
  4. Drop the filters. Use a natural photo in even light, without beauty effects.
  5. Upload and watch it at normal speed. If it still looks wrong, email us for a refund of that video.

The five photo problems behind most weird faces

1. The face is small. In a full-length shot taken from far away the face is only a few pixels, so the AI invents the rest. Step closer, or crop so the head and body fill the frame.

2. More than one person is in the photo. The AI has to choose one subject to put in the scene, and it can choose the wrong one or blend features. Use a photo where you are alone.

3. Something covers the face: sunglasses, a mask, a hand, long hair across the eyes, a phone in front of the mirror selfie.

4. Heavy filters or beauty effects. They smooth and reshape the face before the AI sees it, and the video then has to match a face that is not yours. Use an unfiltered photo.

5. The face is turned away or cut off. Face-on and fully inside the frame gives the AI the most to copy.

Why a perfect photo can still look a bit off

The video is generated, not filmed. The AI copies the BBY WOW guy's moves and walk from the original clip and puts your photo's subject in his place, so some frames can drift: a hand that bends oddly, a face that changes slightly as the head turns. That is a limit of AI video today, and it is why we describe results as AI-made and why results with pets vary more than with people.

Each video is about 9 seconds, 720p and vertical, so there is little time on screen for any one odd frame. Watch it at normal speed before judging it.

What we do if it still looks wrong

If the finished video does not look like the person or pet in your photo, email us the date of the video and we refund that video. Credits are also returned automatically if a video fails on our side. Uploaded photos are deleted after 30 days.

Frequently asked questions

+Does a higher-resolution photo help?

A sharp photo where the face is large enough to see clearly helps more than a big file. A phone photo taken in good light is usually enough.

+Should I use a selfie or a full-body photo?

Whole body with the face clear works best because the dance shows the full body. A close selfie gives the AI no body to copy and leaves more to guess.

+Will it look more real with a different photo?

Often yes. Try a sharper, front-facing photo with you alone, no sunglasses and no filters.

+Can I get my money back if it looks wrong?

Email us the date of the video and we refund that video.
